Métange was born out of necessity. After being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease in 2017, an extended hospital stay was the catalyst that led our founder to be re-acquained with the practice of gua sha, a healing eastern massage technique.

“After experiencing facial swelling from my condition, I relied on gua sha as a natural remedy. I found it to be a mindful and self-soothing practice that reminded me of my cultural roots. Unable to find a gua sha tool shaped for my specific needs, I created our Obsidian Stone out of necessity. I saw the importance of the skincare routine, and the sacredness of the self-care ritual, not only for physical wellness but mental clarity as well. My goal is to transform the at-home self-massage experience, turning it into an act of healing, a moment of solace for one’s self.”

Featured in Forbes, Vogue, Glamour, Harper's Bazaar, The Toronto Star and FASHION Magazine, Métange’s self-healing tools aim to merge traditional eastern healing practises into everyday self-care.
